Observing Copyright

Copyright-Friendly Images

We understand that students will want to enhance their presentations with images and often they will look to the Internet to get those images. But, under Canadian Copyright law, images used in any public fashion (including school presentations) must have copyright clearance from the owner of the image. For our purposes, all images on the Internet are assumed to be copyrighted and it is the responsibility of the student to research the copyright status of any image they use.

You will find, listed below,  a number of websites which offer copyright-friendly images for student use. This is not intended to be an exhaustive list but will provide a starting point for students.

Of course, projects provide students with an opportunity to be creative. So instead of using other people's work why not create your own: drawing, painting, photography, poetry, short story, clay animation/short video play, song, or sculpture. Dare to be original!
